There Ain’t No Forgettin’ | Ed and Deanna Templeton

Deanna and Ed Templeton are doing a show here in Austin on Saturday March 12th at Domy Books.

I’ll be checking out SXSW so I hope to push on over to check it out.

The Cure For Mongo Foot

This is awesome. Mongo Foot Disorder is sweeping the nation. I’m seeing more and more infected kids at the skatepark every week.

Bones Brigade Documentary Announced

I’m stoked. These guys are such a huge part of my skateboard journey. I’ll be sure and post more news as I get it. Check out the scoop at the Powell Peralta blog

Bones Brigade

Those skaters known as the Bones Brigade are now old enough to take a look back.  At a time in the 80′s when many people were mourning the second death of skateboarding, the Bones Brigade through passion, drive, creativity and a surprising sense of teamwork redefined the sport for their time and the future – Stacy Peralta

Skateboarding in the News: It Never Seems To Translate

It happens all the time a non-skating reporter tries to explain skateboarding to an audience of non-skaters and to us, it’s pure comedy, horror or just downright embarrassing. Here a re a few gems.

Fat reporter crushes a poor skateboarder:

Junior college news reporter explains how rad skating on campus can be:

This reporter had the stones to try and ollie on live news…fail. The best part may be the complete lack of reaction from TJ Lavin.

A nice story, but shows that the news often focuses on aspects of skateboarding that skaters don’t give a rip about. Not to take away from what this guy did nor the cause he is supporting:

Seven Ply Science | Girls Make You Go Big?

OK, even for the Old Guy that title is on the edge. Gimme a break, I’m a dad. Miller McCune posted an article on a study of how skaters performed when around dudes and around girls. They concluded that dudes do in fact take bigger risks in the presence of girls.

The skateboarders were measured after each epic failure — sorry, “attempted move” — and, consistent with predictions, the young men had higher testosterone levels and took bigger risks when good-looking women were watching. (Also noted: increasing use of the phrase “dude, I swear, I totally landed that ‘ollie,’ like, 50 times straight yesterday.”)

Did we need science to tell us this? We all new this. Hot girls turn young men into idiots.

Go Skateboarding Day | Vancouver Gets it Right

I’ve said it before, if I could live anywhere on the planet it would be Vancouver Canada. I have been there a few times in the last couple years and the place is epic! As if they weren’t epic enough, they blew up the city on Go Skateboarding Day 2010.

Now if I can only get the skaters in Austin to pull together like that next year?
